Bradstone uses ‘Duramould’® Moulds for Landscaping Products

Bradstone, the world-wide manufacturer of decorative hard landscaping products, and one of the largest manufacturers in the UK uses Hyperlast Limited’s ‘Duramould’® for moulding its landscaping products. At the 2004 Chelsea Flower Show, Bradstone supported the 2004 Salvation Army’s exhibit and paraded a range of bespoke moulded paving products – the display was striking, not just for its creative and inspirational appeal, but for the inherent quality of the products it comprised.

“With so much on offer in the market place by way of paving and moulded artefacts, it takes a knowledgeable eye to appreciate the very high quality that we at Bradstone consistently demand of all of our products,” says Peter Britton, Bradstone’s Development Manager. “Vital to this is the excellence of the mould.”

For the products in this display, Bradstone used ‘Duramould’® ET45A mould polyurethane from Hyperlast Limited, the specialist polyurethane manufacturers based in Derbyshire (UK). They have a global reputation for their polyurethane products, which have applications in many industry sectors.

The new ‘Duramould’ range of polyurethanes for making concrete moulds combines excellent properties with ease of use. Hyperlast Limited’s experience of developing polyurethane systems for making flexible mould liners goes back a good twenty-five years. Mould liners for pre-casting decorative garden features, ornaments, architectural features, profiled blocks, paving and walling and such products established an excellent track record throughout a wide and loyal customer base under the brand name of ‘Diprane’®. But in keeping with the character of a company that is energetic in so many industry sectors, Hyperlast Limited has developed ‘Duramould’, a new range of easy-to-use, cold, castable polyurethanes.

‘Duramould’ is easily manipulated to reflect great precision of form and fine detail in moulded materials. It is, therefore, suited to manufacturing particularly complex products and offers a cost-effective way of producing short run or specialist items. Carrying the pedigree forward, ‘Duramould’ ET45A has that dynamic character of Hyperlast polyurethanes in general, being tough and demonstrating excellent resistance to wear and tear. ET45A offers a 1:1 mix system, long pot life and produces a flexible liner that allows an easy demould.

‘Duramould’ has been good for Bradstone’s business. Consistency of reproduction is vital to the quality they demand. ‘Duramould’ satisfies their criteria and there is little waste. Hyperlast Business Manager, Shaun Robertson says, “ ‘Duramould’ is extremely easy to process, leading to right-first-time manufacture of quality flexible moulds. Its excellent reproduction of texture ensures that designers are given the freedom to develop new products with minimum difficulty. It is also very economic to use. We are pleased to be working with a big company like Bradstone that can make an impact on such a prestigious event as the Chelsea Flower Show.”
